Purkinje cells

Purkinje cells

Purkinje cells, discovered in the 19th century by the researcher after which they are named, are found in the cerebellum (cerebellar cortex). These pear-shaped cells have highly developed dendritic ramifications. Their axons are connected to neurons of the marrow (tonus), medulla (balance) and cortex (motricity).
