Study of cerebral structures in healthy people or patients

Each person's brain is different, and this is fascinating for neuroscientists. These differences include a variability in such markers as size, form and even the presence of certain cortical sulci - what we call sulcal architecture, the hills and valleys shaping the external surface of the brain. This difference sometimes makes it difficult to correlate counterpart anatomical or functional structures between people. We therefore try to model and depict the architecture of these sulci (or fissures) with a computer. This neuro-imaging is one example of the DIffeomorphic Sulcal-based COrtical (DISCO) technique. Right hemisphere: visuospatial attention of the brain

Tractographic reconstruction of the three pathways connecting the parietal lobe to the frontal lobe located in the two hemispheres of the human brain. The symmetry of these parieto-frontal connections predicts the degree of specialization of the right hemisphere to attract visuospatial attention, which relies on the ability to respond to such tasks as looking for someone, avoiding a hazard, etc. To do this, the researchers scanned the brain of healthy participants with a new magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) analysis technique with which the cerebral connections can be explored. At the same time, they measured the degree of specialization of the right cerebral hemisphere with behavioral tests.
