Sophie Ugolini, Research Award 2012

A Prix Recherche for 2012 has been awarded to Sophie Ugolini for her work on a particular population of lymphocytes, the Natural Killer (NK) cells

Sophie Ugolini is director of research at the Marseille Luminy immunology center (Unit 1104 Inserm/Aix-Marseille University). Her work covers how Natural Killer (NK) cells work. In mice, Sophie discovered a gene that allows these cells to fight more effectively against cancer cells and viral infections. This data could bring about new therapeutic avenues.
