Europe and international

Inserm maintains a long tradition of European and international cooperation: every year, over 6,000 cooperative arrangements with foreign partners are reported by its research teams. These arrangements involve all areas of research in life sciences and health. They involve partners from nearly 100 countries. Half of the cooperative arrangements involve countries in the European Union or its vicinity, but the Institute’s main partner remains the United States, with nearly 20% of these arrangements.

Inserm also plays an active role within multilateral bodies, including WHO and the UN Global Health Crisis Task Force, as well as several European and international bodies such as the Heads of International Research Organizations (HIROs), the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) and CLORA (Club of Associated Research Organisations, in Brussels).
